Show Abstract
A fluid ponderomotive theory of a nondissipative cold magnetized plasma is presented. It is shown that nonlinear low‐frequency dynamics is self‐consistently determined by ponderomotive potential force and magnetization terms, both uniquely related to the ponderomotive potential. A compact and general fluid relation between the ponderomotive potential and the linear high‐frequency response is derived. Finally, turning to the eikonal representation, a relation to earlier results is established.
